BACKGROUND

Over the years, drag channels have become a gateway to a world of diverse voices and experiences. YouTube Drag creators are using their channels to expand access to a new world of queer perspectives, creativity, and representation. This is a unique and diverse community that calls for celebration.

SOLUTION

With the help of our guides, YouTube Creator icons and legends of the scene Trixie Mattel and Juno Birch, we delved deep into the transformative journey of the drag community within the digital realm of the platform. Along the way Trixie and Juno uncover the colourful history of Drag and its ever growing community of creators.

With team members from various ages, genders, ethnicities, and identities, including representation from LGBTQ+ and AAPI communities, Entropico's insights are enriched by its inclusivity, enabling it to create impactful and resonant projects like A Drag Adventure Story.

EXECUTION

Drag has taken on a life of its own on YouTube, and this journey to the centre of drag culture features two queens doing what they do best – entertaining and letting their imaginations run wild. The partially scripted narrative short features our queens in a super campy storyline that plays out via green screen with the aid of animation, DIY production techniques and plenty of nods and deep cuts to the YouTube drag canon.

On a technical level, the project's production schedule spanned approximately three months, including creative development, a single shoot day, and vast post-production and animation efforts. But on a cultural level, Entropico's capability to authentically represent and proudly celebrate diverse communities like drag culture stems from its unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

RESULTS

Perfectly timed to launch during Pride Month, A Drag Adventure Story took over the YouTube platform on June 10, supported by a bespoke YouTube logo change on June 11. Mainstream media including ELLE Magazine and View the Vibe praised its arrival, the video amassed more than 850K views, and most importantly, stood as a beacon of celebration for queer perspectives, artistic ingenuity, and inclusive representation.
